We are seeking Uzbek Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Uzbek is a critical Central Asian language, frequently needed in asylum and immigration proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Uzbek English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
- Interpret accurately, neutrally, and with cultural competency in immigration and legal contexts.
- Adhere to USCIS/DHS confidentiality and compliance standards.
- Manage both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
- Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Uzbek and English.
- 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, medical, or government preferred).
- Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
- Strong telephone communication and accuracy under pressure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
