The Scribe is responsible for documenting provider-patient encounters in real-time during medical examinations, allowing the provider to focus attention on direct patient interaction. This position may also be responsible for locating information for providers and completing forms needed for patient care.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Accompanies provider into exam room. Documents the provider-dictated patient history, physical examination findings, and all procedures and treatments as performed by the provider in the electronic medical record.
• Prepares charts in advance of encounters, as needed.
• Provides completed office visit notes to referring provider for continuity of care.
• Performs other clerical duties and completes patient-related forms, as needed.
• Ensures compliance with clinic standards of quality patient care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year experience working as a medical scribe or medical assistant with demonstrated proficiency in use of EMR required.
• Experience documenting patient care as dictated by a physician in a legible and clear manner, following all local, state, and federal guidelines for documentation required.
• Prior coursework in anatomy and physiology, biology or other healthcare-related field preferred.
