Release Manager – API Gateway (Contract)

Location: Greenwood Village, CO (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite/week)

Rate: $60–$62 per hour

Contract Type: Long-term W2

Interview Format: One-round, 60-minute interview (WebEx or onsite)

Overview

Our Fortune 500 client is seeking a highly organized and communicative Release Manager to join fur fast-paced API Gateway organization. This team plays a critical role in securing and managing access to our client's web services, supporting multiple workstreams across maintenance, new features, tech debt, and migration efforts. You’ll serve as the central point of coordination for packaging and deploying releases across four distinct workstreams—ensuring smooth delivery to internal clients with minimal downtime. This is a high-impact role requiring strong stakeholder management, planning, and DevOps fundamentals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Release Planning & Coordination: Own the end-to-end release lifecycle, ensuring timely and well-orchestrated deployments across multiple teams.
  • Execution & Deployment: Manage CI/CD pipelines and execute builds into lower environments (training provided if needed).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with developers, PMs, Scrum Masters, and leadership to align release priorities and timelines.
  • Risk & Stakeholder Management: Identify critical vs. non-critical items, mitigate risks, and communicate clearly with internal clients and stakeholders.
  • Technical Oversight (Lightweight): Understand Git workflows, Kubernetes basics, and AWS deployment fundamentals to support release activities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience: 8+ years preferred in release management or related roles (flexible for strong candidates).

Skills & Tools:

  • Git (required)
  • CI/CD pipeline exposure
  • Kubernetes (preferred)
  • AWS (nice to have)
  • DevOps mindset is essential

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Agile environment (Scrum & Kanban)
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities

Bonus:

  • Security background or familiarity with API authorization concepts
