Police Records Coordinator

This position is devoted to providing coordination of data flow, data entry, reporting and processing of warrants, crime and police information as well as providing customer service to the general public. Supervise an assigned shift or section of records management or warrants staff.

Responsible for reviewing source documents to ensure all available information is present; identifying data discrepancies and making corrections; proofing staff work; coding documents; operating the police records management system; training staff; establishing priorities and deadlines; and supervising all data entry and customer service operations. Supervise support staff including, conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Supervises police records management including data entry and customer service; supervises staff including planning, assigning, and evaluating work; trains staff; establishes work schedules and ensures adequate staffing levels; troubleshoots basic software and related issues; reports technology issues to appropriate personnel; and ensures compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervises the preparation of and/or prepares, maintains, reviews, and/or updates warrant and law enforcement-related reports, records, logs, and other documents; supervises the maintenance and updating of databases; reviews documents, identifies data discrepancies, and makes corrections to ensure informational accuracy; and proofs staff work.
  • Assists with budget development and procurement; monitors and reconciles expenditures; recommends approval of expenditures; and makes budget recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Associate's degree in business or public administration, criminal justice, or directly related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Four years of police records experience.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Experience working within a law enforcement agency.
  • Experience retrieving/updating information from databases.
  • Experience supervising and directing daily activities of employees performing customer service duties.
