Job Overview
We are looking to hire an experienced Medical Assistant to help our growing family and functional medicine practice. We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 0730-1700 for a total of 30 hours per week . All holidays are paid time off. After one year, PTO and vacation are available. Pay range $17-18/hour.
Responsibilities for Medical Assistant
Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
Checking patients in, rooming patients by completing vital signs, preparing the medical chart with every encounter reviewing: Medication reconciliation, updating personal/family/surgical histories, completing (including input into the chart) of depression screenings, updating patient preventative screenings (including documentation in the patient chart at every visit for mammogram, Pap smear, colonoscopy, DEXA - facility, results, date of exam)
Participate in weekly inventory count
Including room supplies: Phlebotomy supplies, Pap smear speculums and ThinPrep brushes/Aptima swabs, gowns, pillow cases, injection supplies
Perform EKG as needed
Perform allergy percutaneous skin testing under the delegation of APP
Sterilize packages and autoclaves instruments, using proper sterilization protocols
Including Hemaostat equipment after suture removal
Effectively label and process patient specimens as needed
Completing lab rec form for providers, ability to perform phlebotomy skills as needed, call Quest laboratory for pick-up, ensure specimens are in the collection box every evening and assess specimens were picked up every morning.
Complete imaging order forms prior to APP signing forms
Ability to refill medications under APP delegation
Complete referrals under APP delegation
Communicate APP instructions with patients' family or friends and escalating questions about patient care to APP for effective and safe patient communication
Inform patients of providers recommendations based on lab results, imaging results
Administer injections, prescribed medications and administer IVs under the delegation of APP
Clearly communicate all aspects of patient care directly with APP
Qualifications for Medical Assistant
2+ years' MA experience
Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs
Outstanding knowledge of medical terminology
Current MA Graduate in the state without disciplinary action from the BON
Ability to pass a background test without a history of felonies
Excellent staff training and customer service skills
Exceptional physical condition and stamina
Deep understanding of confidentiality obligations
Compassionate and friendly demeanor
Ability to take direction and correction
Ability to prioritize tasks accordingly
Ability to work with two providers and meet their needs
