Phillips Academy seeks an Assistant Coach for the junior varsity football program for Fall 2025.

Position Summary:

Phillips Academy seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Junior Varsity (JV) Football Assistant Coach to help lead and develop our JV football team. Working alongside our head JV football coach, the ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in football coaching, strategic understanding of the game, and a passion for teaching and mentoring student-athletes. This coach will be responsible for fostering skill development, teamwork, and a love of football within a competitive, yet educational environment aligned with the school’s values.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partake in all aspects of the JV football program, including planning and executing practices, game preparation, and in-game coaching.
• Develop players’ individual and team skills through structured drills, instruction, and feedback.
• Collaborate closely with the Varsity Head Football Coach to align JV strategies with the overall football program.
• Support player growth with a focus on fundamentals, character development, and sportsmanship.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes leadership, accountability, and mutual respect.
• Ensure player safety and adherence to school and league athletic policies.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with student-athletes, families, and school staff.
• Attend required coaching meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
• Watch and critique film via HUDL.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience coaching football at the youth, high school or collegiate level.
• Deep knowledge of football rules, offensive and defensive strategies, and player development.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to mentor and motivate high school athletes of varying experience levels.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Phillips Academy and its educational philosophy.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to season start).

Season Schedule:

Time frame: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Friday: ~3:15pm - 6 pm

Game days beginning early September - typically Wednesdays, ~2 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Dates: August 30th through mid-November, including weekday practices and weekend planning.
