Job Description

Associate Attorney – Burg Law, P.A. (Panama City, FL)

Starting salary: $100,000 + attainable bonus based solely on billable hours

Benefits: Health insurance, 401(k) with 2% match, structured mentorship, and early client responsibility.

A Message from Brandon Burg, Managing Attorney

You probably have friends or classmates at Big Law jobs in Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, or Orlando. I was one of those guys. I graduated from Florida Statute University College of Law with my JD/MBA and practiced at a prestigious full-service 120-attorney "tall building" firm in downtown Tampa, and while there’s some status that comes with it, here’s the truth: you work crazy hours, navigate layers of bureaucracy, and rarely see the full picture of a case or a client.

On the other end of the spectrum are the small shops that run on chaos — no systems, no training, just an overworks lead attorney that drops files on your desk and tells you to “figure it out as you go.”

At Burg Law, we offer a third path. We’ve built a structured, high-performance firm where you’ll get real client experience from day one, but with genuine mentorship and proven systems designed to make you successful.

I’m intentionally growing this firm. My goal is to build Burg Law into one of the most prominent firms in Northwest Florida — and ultimately a statewide leader in our field. To get there, I know we must have systems that develop talented attorneys quickly, not by throwing them into the deep end, but by training them deliberately and giving them the tools to succeed.

We represent community associations and other large organizations across the panhandle of Florida — clients that value fast, competent, and personal service. The work is complex enough to stay interesting, but focused enough to master quickly.

You won’t be lost in the crowd here. You’ll have a name, a reputation, and a measurable impact on the clients you serve.

What You’ll Do

From your first week, you’ll be:

  • Attending board meetings and owner meetings with our attorneys and clients.
  • Drafting and reviewing real contracts, amendments, and enforcement documents.
  • Learning directly from me and the other attorneys who emphasize  thinking through issues — not just drafting paperwork or filling out forms.
  • Managing matters with guided oversight, feedback, and growth checkpoints.

We don’t throw people to the wolves. We train them, coach them, and expect them to rise quickly.

Our Culture: “Iron Sharpens Iron”

Our team is built around high-caliber people who hold themselves and each other to elite standards. Most of us have competitive sports backgrounds — people who like feedback, want to win, and care deeply about getting better.

We’re candid, direct, and collaborative. There’s no office drama. You’ll be working alongside people who take their craft seriously but not themselves too seriously.

How We Work

We fully embrace modern tools — including AI — to eliminate busywork and let our attorneys focus on what clients actually value: judgment, strategy, and human connection.

The future of the legal profession will belong to those who can think critically, communicate clearly, and genuinely connect with people. AI can’t replace that — but it can make great lawyers even better.

Who Thrives Here

We’re not checking class rank boxes. You have to be smart — that’s non-negotiable — but long-term success here comes from curiosity, discipline, and interpersonal intelligence, not rote memorization.

If you:

  • Played sports, led organizations, or stayed deeply involved in law school life,
  • Like solving problems and talking with people,
  • Take feedback as fuel,
  • Want to grow into a well-rounded attorney who balances high standards with a good life,

then you’ll do very well at Burg Law.

Life in Panama City

Yes, it’s smaller than Miami, Orlando, or Tampa — and that’s the point. Northwest Florida offers a quality of life that’s hard to beat:

  • World-class beaches and water activities minutes from the office,
  • Incredible hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation,
  • A growing professional community that still feels connected.

You can build a serious legal career and still be home for dinner, with time for the things that actually matter.

We live where most people vacation — and we love it.

Final Thought

In law school, there's a major draw to chasing prestige. Here, we chase performance, purpose, and a good life.

  • If you want to do meaningful work, with people you care about, make good money, and still have time for other things — we’d love to meet you.

Thanks,

Brandon
